Artist Talk Bager Akbay

We are grateful to have Bager Akbay with us next week as a long valued lecturer in our Ladenlokal! Therefore, we will start the upcoming week with a talk by Bager on Monday evening, 28.11.22, 18:00 CEST, in our Ladenlokal at Zinnowitzer Str. 7, 10115 Berlin. Come by if you are around!

Bager focuses his artistic practice on many machinic levels, such as robot rights movements and artificial stupidity.  He is using scientific tools not for science, rather for telling stories.

Bager Akbay is an artist, designer, educator and storyteller of robot poet Deniz Yilmaz. Bager’s artworks are exhibited in Ars Electronica, Today´s Art and Transmediale festivals. He is the co-author of “Programming Scratch I” for Kids, co-founder of Iskele47 Studio and co-curator of the Istanbul Maker Faire. Bager is currently on the board of Amber plattform which hosts art and technology festivals since 2007, and Baska Bir Okul Mumkun NGO which works in the democratic school movement. Currently teaching in art history at Istanbul Mimar Sinan University and Marmara University and Programming for Puppeteers at Berlin Ernst Busch University and running an “Art Talk Show° at FLU TV.

He studied Communication Design in Istanbul and Interface Cultures at Linz Art University, Austria. After his studies in Black Theater as an actor and puppeteer, Bager started to give lectures at various universities in his field and provided consultancy to companies within the design sector in the last ten years. Today, he lives an experimentalist life between art and science, doing artwork at his studio iskele47, Istanbul.
